We offer sedation for anxious patients and this can really make a difference. With sedation, patients feel more comfortable in the run-up to treatment because they know that they’re not going to feel any pain and they also feel relaxed during treatment due to the effects of the sedative medication. Sedation doesn’t carry the same risks as general anaesthetic because you don’t lose consciousness at all.
For patients with a fear of needles, we are able to offer oral and inhalation sedation, as well as intravenous sedation; this means that you can be sedated without any worries about having an injection. With oral sedation, you take a tablet, while you inhale sedative through a mask with inhalation sedation.
