If you have had a dental implant fitted or had some root canal treatment done to eradicate tooth decay, you will want to have a crown fitted afterwards. Now, in central Leeds, there are quite a few options to choose from in the sense of the material that they are made from, although in essence, if you have the money, you can have one made from whatever you fancy- within reason. This is governed however by where in the mouth the crown is to be placed; if it is required at the front of the mouth, very little stress is placed upon these teeth so a pure porcelain crown would suffice and fit in beautifully with the rest of your teeth. But in the back of the mouth, the teeth undergo a lot more stress from chewing so a stronger crown is needed. Porcelain-over-metal crowns are far stronger that pure porcelain ones and can take a lot more stress, but they also retain that beautiful porcelain hue that again mirrors the enamel in the rest of your teeth. However, if you want something that doesn’t fit in with the rest of your teeth and boldly sits in the mouth making a statement, then a gold crown is the one for you. It will stand out from the rest of your teeth, but not in an ugly way and being so strong, you could bite your way through wood!
