4244118_blogIf you’re eager to channel the Duchess of Cambridge this summer, we can recommend a host of treatments to give you a stunning, elegant smile. In recent years, the ultra-bright Hollywood style smile has given way to a more subtle, natural and understated look in the popularity charts and we have the perfect treatments to recreate this look.

Cosmetic treatments for an elegant smile

We have an extensive collection of cosmetic treatments on offer, which are capable of creating beautifully natural smiles as well as a more glamorous look. The beauty of cosmetic treatment is its versatility and we can tailor every treatment plan to suit the individual. Some clients come to us looking for all-out A-list glamour, while others are desperate to achieve that radiant, natural look.

Our treatment options include tooth whitening, porcelain crowns, white fillings, cosmetic braces, composite bonding and veneers.

Teeth whitening

We offer both home whitening and Enlighten professional treatment, both of which produce incredible results without any hassle. The results of whitening treatment should last for many months, even years in the case of Enlighten.

Porcelain crowns

Porcelain crowns are used to strengthen and stabilise damaged and decayed teeth with minimal impact on the aesthetic of the smile. They are placed over the top of the tooth and they help to reduce the risk of further injury and infection. Crowns should last up to five years.

White fillings

White fillings are an aesthetically pleasing alternative to mercury amalgam fillings. They are used to treat cavities and help to protect the tooth and improve its function. We offer new fillings and replacement white fillings for old metal fillings.

Cosmetic braces

Cosmetic braces are discreet, aesthetically pleasing orthodontic solutions that remedy issues such as crowding and gaps between the teeth with minimal hassle. Examples include the Inman Aligner, Six Month Smiles and STb Social 6 lingual braces.

Composite bonding

Composite bonding is an excellent solution for chipped and worn edges, gaps between the teeth and misshapen teeth. Treatment takes just an hour and it is very simple. Your dentist will craft and mould the putty-like composite into shape to carry out the relevant repairs and then set the composite to make it hard.

Veneers

Veneers are often associated with incredibly glamorous smiles, but they can also be used to create a much more understated aesthetic. Veneers are very thin sheets of ceramic shaped to fit onto your natural teeth. They create flawless, beautiful smiles.

Make Your Smile Clear with a Dental Veneer

Monday, July 13th, 2015

3492515_blogStudies show that most of us long for a more attractive smile and with amazing treatments like dental veneers around, a perfect smile is more accessible and obtainable than ever before. If you want to look and feel like a red carpet star very time you speak in public or pose for a photograph, veneers could be the answer.

About veneers

Veneer treatment is amazingly effective, but it’s also really simple. We create custom-made veneers to suit your dental needs and design a new aesthetic that matches your idea of the dream smile. Veneers are extremely thin and light shells, usually made from porcelain, fixed onto your natural teeth to produce a stunning new look. We can use single veneers to cover imperfections and issues such as a stained tooth or worn edges, or we can fit a full set of veneers for those who dream of a flawless, sparkling smile. We use veneers to transform the smile and they are also a versatile option for common cosmetic problems, including gaps between the teeth, chips and misshapen teeth.

Veneer treatment: what does the process involve?

You may be surprised to hear that with veneers, we can transform your smile in just two to three weeks. Before you start treatment, we invite you to a consultation to discuss the treatment in detail and check your teeth. During the consultation we also talk you through the process and ask if you have any questions. If you decide to go ahead, we then start preparing your teeth, a process that involves removing a very fine layer of the tooth surface. This stage is necessary to make room for the veneers and facilitate bonding when the new veneers are placed on your teeth. We then create impressions of your teeth and these are used by highly skilled dental technicians to manufacture bespoke veneers. Around two weeks later, we will schedule another appointment to fit your veneers. We place them on your teeth, check that you are happy with your new look and then fix them firmly onto the teeth.

How long do veneers last?

Veneers should last for several years, but the exact lifespan will depend on the type of veneer, the material used and the way you care for your veneers. When you have your veneers fitted, your dentist will talk you through the cleaning and maintenance process so that you can enjoy your new smile for years to come.

Which Restorative Treatment Will be Crowned the Best for You?

Thursday, April 23rd, 2015

2433646_sIf you’re looking for restorative treatment fit for a king or queen, you’ve come to the right place! At City Dental Leeds, we have a range of options ready and waiting to restore broken and damaged teeth and improve your oral health.

Our treatment options include crowns, veneers, white fillings, dental bridges, inlays and onlays. We also offer dentures and dental implants to replace missing teeth.

What do the different treatments do?

Crowns: crowns are robust restorations often called into action when a tooth is severely damaged or decayed. They are placed on top of the natural tooth structure and they help to prevent any further damage. Crowns can be made from ceramics and metals and they can last for many years.

White fillings: fillings are commonly used to treat decayed teeth when a cavity has formed in the tooth surface. White fillings are made from dental composite and resins and they repair the tooth without detracting from the beautiful aesthetic of the smile.

Dental bridges: bridges are a popular replacement option for a missing tooth. They can be made from ceramic for a very subtle, natural look and they should last for 10-15 years. Treatment can usually be completed in two sessions.

Inlays and onlays: inlays and onlays are often described as the mid-point between crowns and fillings. They are usually made from porcelain and they help to strengthen the teeth and protect them from injury and decay. Onlays incorporate the outer cusps of the tooth surface, while inlays are restricted to the inner surface of the teeth.

Veneers: veneers can be used to patch up individual teeth or used as a set to create a perfect looking smile. Veneers can be made from various materials, including porcelain, and they are a very popular cosmetic dental treatment.

The Dental Veneer Process Explained

Sunday, February 15th, 2015

18625010The demand for cosmetic dentistry is increasing year on year in the UK, as more and more people pursue their dream smile. With veneers, we are able to transform the appearance of unsightly teeth into a stunning smile, so if you’re not confident about the look of your smile and you tend to hide away in the background whenever there’s a camera around or the opportunity to lead a pitch or present to an audience, we can help!

About veneers

Veneers are custom-designed shells of porcelain, which are fixed onto the surface of your teeth to create a brand new stunning aesthetic. In most cases, veneers are made from porcelain, but there are alternatives available.

Many people have veneers to achieve a flawless, bright smile. However, they are also a very useful treatment for patients who are looking for a solution for chipped teeth, uneven edges and gaps between the teeth.

How does the veneer treatment process work?

If you’re interested in veneer treatment, you’ll have a consultation with one of our excellent dentists to talk about treatment in more detail. Your dentist will explain how treatment works, what it involves, what you can expect from treatment and how it could benefit you. Your dentist will also check that you are a good candidate for treatment and if you agree to go ahead, the planning stage can begin.

There are various different types of veneer and they come in different shades and shapes, so you can decide what you want your smile to look like.

Veneers are very thin, but in order to create a natural look and ensure maximum comfort it is necessary to make room for them. This preparatory stage involves etching the teeth to remove a very fine layer of the surface. Each veneer is custom-made based on impressions of your teeth, which are made during the planning phase. The impressions are sent away to the laboratory where the veneers are crafted by skilled technicians. Once they have been sent back to us, we can fit them and you can see your amazing new smile!

Are veneers the best option for patients with chipped teeth in Central Leeds?

Thursday, February 20th, 2014

1787127_blogVeneers are an extremely popular treatment for those who are looking for a glamorous, glossy smile, but are they the best option for you? Veneers are used to address many common aesthetic problems with the teeth, including chips, worn teeth and discolouration and they have been made very famous by celebrities, including models, actors and singers. Veneers create amazing smiles and they are an ideal choice for those who want a flawless smile; however, if you simply want to make minor changes to your teeth, you have problems such as crooked or crowded teeth or you want whiter teeth, there may be other treatments available to you, which could be more suitable. Orthodontic issues, such as crowding and spaces between the teeth, do not go away on their own and veneers simple hide the problem, rather than treating it; the only way to solve these problems is to have orthodontic treatment. The same is true of whitening; veneers create an amazing white smile, but the actual colour of your natural teeth will remain the same and the only way to change this is whitening treatment. If you have chipped or worn teeth and you are not sure about investing in veneers, it may be best to consider cosmetic bonding, which is less expensive and much quicker. If you are thinking about veneers or you would like to find out more about other options that are on offer, talk to a friendly City Dental dentist.

Veneers for a truly dazzling smile in the city of Leeds

Sunday, February 16th, 2014

1567900_blogIf you’re a fan of reality television or you love to pore through the pages of glossy magazines, you will probably have spotted that all the people in the shows and photographs have perfect smiles. Now, you don’t need to be a top model or a TV star to have a flawless smile; we offer amazing veneer treatments in the centre of Leeds. Veneers are used to treat problems with the aesthetic of the teeth. They are very thin shells of porcelain or composite material, which are placed over the top of the natural teeth. There are many different shades and shapes of veneer available and also different systems to choose from, many of which have been featured on television makeover shows. The veneers are crafted with care and tailor-made to fit the contours of the natural teeth perfectly; the patient chooses the shape and shade to create their perfect smile and once the veneers are ready, they are placed over the top of the teeth and fixed into position. Before treatment, it is common to undergo a short procedure to prepare the teeth; this is nothing to worry about and it simply makes room for the new veneers. Your teeth will be number beforehand to stop you from feeling any pain. Veneers are most commonly recommended for people who have discoloured, chipped or worn teeth. If you’re after a truly dazzling smile in the centre of Leeds, look no further than veneer treatment at City Dental Leeds.

Practical Porcelain Veneers in Leeds

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

It is always great to radiate a beautiful smile out and about in Leeds, be it in a social situation or a work one. But unfortunately, we are all confronted by beauty’s greatest enemy at some point of our lives- ageing.

Sadly some of us have to work a little harder than others to turn back the years, but you may have a lot to thank the dental world for, because cosmetic dentistry is on hand to keep us smiling and one of the most practical and versatile treatments around is the fitting of porcelain veneers.

Veneers will hide away a number of evils and leave your teeth looking like new. As we age, our gums are suceptible to receding, cracks and gaps can appear in the teeth and teeth can become worn down and discoloured, but veneers can cover all this up.

When you choose veneers,  your teeth first need to be prepped. This involves the removal of the enamel so that an imprint of your teeth can be made, from which the veneer is made. When done, you return to the chair and this tiny, fragile piece of wafer-thin porcelain is cemented onto the surface of the teeth and ‘cured.’ This multiplies the strength of the veneer making it very durable and long lasting.

This whole process is pain-free, but even the most timid of us would be prepared to go through a little discomfort once we have seen the results- they are nothing short of amazing!
