Which Discreet Teeth Straightening Solution is Right For You?

Wednesday, July 19th, 2017

shutterstock_652695277Most of us are concerned about our image. At City Dental Leeds, we understand that many of our patients are apprehensive about having braces because of the way they look. The good news is that braces don’t have to look unsightly anymore. If you thought you’d be lumbered with bulky metal train-tracks, think again! We have a host of discreet solutions ready and waiting to give you a beautiful smile with minimal hassle.

Which treatment is right for you?

We are delighted to have a wide range of options available for our patients. While it’s good to have a choice, we understand that some patients may feel confused when it comes to choosing the right treatment. This is where our expert dentists come in handy. Our dentists have many years of experience, and they can talk you through the options and make recommendations based on your orthodontic prescription, the type of treatment that would benefit you most, and your preferences.

Our treatments

We have something for everyone when it comes to discreet orthodontic options. Our treatments include:

  • Invisalign: Invisalign is a clear aligner system, which utilises a series of bespoke, removable braces to align the teeth. These braces are made from transparent plastic, and they are virtually undetectable when they are in position. Invisalign is generally recommended for patients with minor or moderate orthodontic issues.
  • 6 Month Smiles: fixed braces provide more stability than removable braces. Six Month Smiles is a discreet fixed brace system, which enables you to enjoy the benefits of fixed braces without having to wear appliances that are highly visible. These braces, which target imperfections that affect the front teeth, are made from clear brackets and tooth-coloured wires. They produce results in just 6 months.
  • STb Social 6: STB Social 6 is a lingual brace system, which offers you the opportunity to undergo treatment in secret. These braces are fixed to the back of the teeth, so they cannot be seen when you smile. This is a treatment that is geared towards patients with minor issues that affect the social 6 (the front six teeth on the top and bottom arches). The average treatment time is just 6-18 weeks.

Lingual Braces: Proof that Fixed Braces Aren’t Always Obvious

Wednesday, March 15th, 2017

shutterstock_216891052What kinds of images pop into your head when somebody mentions braces? Do you see cumbersome, ugly sets of metal train-tracks? If so, you’ll be glad to know that times have changed, and there are some much more discreet options on offer. If you’re eager to straighten your teeth and you don’t want to show off a brace when you smile, one option you could consider is lingual braces. These are fixed braces, but they’re completely different to the braces you’re probably familiar with. These braces sit behind your teeth, so you can smile with bags of confidence.

About Lingual Braces

Lingual braces are fixed braces, but they’re not the same as your average fixed braces. These braces are attached to the back of the teeth. This means that they cannot be seen when you smile. If you’re worried about what people will think about you having braces, or you’re conscious about your appearance, this could be the solution for you. With this option, you really can have treatment in secret.

At City Dental Leeds, we know that many of our patients dream of an invisible solution for crooked and crowded teeth, and we’re delighted to offer the incredible STb Social 6 system.

What’s so Fantastic about STb Social 6?

STb Social 6 is a lingual brace system, which targets issues that affect the social 6, the six teeth at the front of the mouth on both the top and bottom arches. The braces are custom-made, and each bracket is fixed individually. The braces use forces to gently guide the teeth into position, correcting problems like minor misalignment and small gaps between the teeth.

The beauty of STb Social 6 braces is that they give you the results you crave without you have to worry about what anyone else thinks or what you see when you look in the mirror. These braces are also incredibly quick, producing beautiful results in just 6-16 weeks.

Incredible Discreet Dentistry With The Inman Aligner

Friday, August 22nd, 2014

3943593_blogDiscretion is a buzz word when it comes to orthodontics because many people want to have treatment without the worry of it impacting on their looks. Braces are not the most attractive accessory, but we are able to offer discreet treatment systems to straighten your teeth with minimal impact on the look of the smile. One of our most popular and exciting treatments is the Inman Aligner.

The Inman Aligner represents a discreet, rapid alternative to traditional fixed braces for patients who have minor issues with the front teeth. This removable appliance is capable of straightening the teeth in a matter of weeks and the best thing is that the brace is barely visible to other people.

What exactly is the Inman Aligner?

The Inman Aligner is a removable aligner, which consists of a coiled spring and a metal bar. The metal bar is very fine and it runs along the front teeth, while the spring is located behind the teeth. The aligner simply sits on top of the teeth and the forces generated by the two key parts move the teeth. These gentle forces push and pull, squeezing the teeth and causing them to move in the desired direction.

The Inman Aligner is not invisible like Invisalign or Clearstep aligners; however, all that can be seen is the fine metal bar and treatment is so quick that it will be over before you know it.

The average treatment time for the Inman Aligner is just 16 weeks.

Who is an ideal candidate for the Inman Aligner?

This treatment is ideally suited to patients who need minor correction and it is a great choice for those with slightly crooked front teeth, mild crowding or a small diastema (gap between the front teeth). We also recommend the Inman Aligner as a treatment for relapse, which occurs when the teeth start to move after treatment.

A Natural Bond. Leeds Has That Gappy Smile Solution

Thursday, July 31st, 2014

iStock_000005654093SmallIf you have unsightly gaps between your teeth, we have the perfect easy solution. You don’t need to wear braces for months on end or worry about injections or needles: with dental bonding, we’ve got it covered!

Dental bonding is a procedure, which is used to make repairs to damaged teeth and improve the aesthetic of the smile. It is a quick, affordable and straightforward alternative to orthodontic treatment and veneers.

What does dental bonding involve?

Dental bonding involves using dental composite, a putty-like material, to fill gaps and reduce the size of spaces between teeth, repair chipped teeth and build up worn tooth surfaces. Dental composite is also used for white fillings and it is available in a range of shades, so we can match the composite to your natural tooth colour.

When you have bonding, your dentist will use their expertise to shape the composite and then set it using a curing light. The entire process usually takes around one hour and there is no pain involved, so you won’t need to worry about injections or anaesthetic. Once the composite has set, it becomes strong and durable, although it is not as strong as the natural enamel we have and you will need to take good care of it.

If you have large spaces between your teeth and you are looking to fix the problem, rather than finding a way to change just the aesthetic of your smile, we recommend orthodontic treatment. We have many treatments available, including discreet systems, which enable you to enjoy a straight smile without any worries about your image.

Gappy Smiles Are A Distant Memory Here In Heartland Leeds

Monday, June 23rd, 2014

221838_blogYour smile is often the first thing people notice about you and an important part of your appearance, so it’s natural to want it to look beautiful. Few people are blessed with naturally flawless smiles, but we have solutions for almost any issue you could possibly imagine and a perfect smile is never beyond the realms of possibility. Whether your teeth are crowded or crooked, you have staining or you have a gappy smile, we have treatments available to transform your teeth into a radiant set of pearly whites.

What can we do for a gappy smile?

A gappy smile is a term used when there are spaces between the teeth. Although there are often no symptoms associated with a gappy smile, there are aesthetic implications and this can affect confidence.

We have various options available to treat a gappy smile, including veneers, composite bonding and orthodontic treatments.

Composite bonding: this is a very effective and simple procedure, which can be used to build up worn tooth surfaces, close gaps between the smile and patch up chipped teeth. It involves using dental composite, which is the material used for white fillings. To begin with, the composite is soft and this means that dentists can shape and bend it to fit the gaps; when they are happy with the look of the teeth, the composite is then set firm using a powerful light source.

Veneers: veneers are an effective means of covering gaps between the teeth and they create beautiful results; they are usually made from porcelain and they sit over the top of the natural teeth. However, they do not actually reduce the size of the gaps between the teeth. Veneers can also be used to treat chipped and worn teeth.

Orthodontic treatment: orthodontic treatment moves the teeth and corrects tooth alignment. There are various options available depending on how much movement is required, including removable aligners, fixed braces, lingual braces and invisible braces.

These braces are made from a single heat-activated wire and triangular brackets. Treatment time is around 50 per cent shorter than conventional fixed appliances and the braces are very comfortable.

braces front teethWhen that dreaded day comes around when you get the news that you will have to have braces fitted in central Leeds, you may be forgiven in thinking that the next few years could be torturous for you. Everyone’s teeth are different but for people whose teeth are badly grown, the work will take time; it may well be torturous when the brace is fixed in, but it will be methodical and at the end, the results will be brilliant. However, not all fixed braces take that long and some of the modern versions can have you done in just 6 months, whilst still doing some pretty intricate work at the same time. If you are lucky though, you can get away with wearing one of the clear, removable aligners on the market: these not only work in magical ways never been afforded to orthodontic treatments years ago, but they can also work fast too- three times as fast in fact than your clunky traditional braces…and as a footnote to speed: if time is of the essence, then there is one aligner on the market right now that gets your teeth fixed up in just 6 weeks! Beautiful Orthodontics in Leeds

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013

Having your teeth straightened is never going to be an easy period in your life, but it isn’t all about the scaffolding these days as there are some beautiful orthodontic treatments available to you in Leeds, some of the more modern braces and aligners around get your teeth fixed fast and discreetly. Some are so discreet you’d be hard pushed to tell that they are in your mouth at all. As for the speed that they work, some of the American aligners can get the job done in as little as six weeks. Having straight teeth can help to promote your smile, self confidence and a truly healthy mouth, but aside from the aesthetic value behind getting your teeth straightened, orthodontics is also about protecting the ‘bite’ in your mouth as well, in order to protect your jaw joints. A true occlusion can promote the overall welfare in your mouth, and this area of dentistry is also employed when it comes to overcoming injury- again it’s all about the bite when it comes to orthodontics.

Superb Orthodontics in Central Leeds

Monday, November 19th, 2012

The world of dentistry has many different areas of speciality, all of them designed to ensure that you, as a patient, get the best from your treatment: orthodontics is one of these branches. Most people in central Leeds will struggle with crooked teeth at some point and if the problem isn’t rectified, there is a chance that your jaw joints could suffer from a bad occlusion or ‘bite’ in the future. This is the job of an orthodontist. As your teeth develop in the early years, your dentist will monitor your teeth for growth, and it’s a tricky time because there are a lot of things happening all at once- especially when your second teeth come through. If any abnormalities arise at this stage, it will determine how your teeth grow in the future and for most of us, we will need a little tooth alignment. The fitting of braces is a tempestuous time for any child (and some adults too), but your orthodontist is there to cover all bases for you. There is a brace or aligner for all occasions; some are more technical than others but then the type you get depends on the intricacy of the work that needs doing. However, the work done at this stage by the orthodontist will ensure that you teeth and your occlusion will get you through life.

Leeds dentists offer stunning Invisalign see-through braces

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

Traditional orthodontic practice has relied for many years on metal braces. These devices severely hampered many peoples’ confidence as they were nervous about smiling and speaking in case of displaying the unsightly metal brackets and wires which filled their mouths. Thankfully there is a new route to your perfect smile with a product that is all but invisible.

Harnessing the very latest in computer technology and 3D images, dentists are now able to offer braces that have come to be known as ‘see-through’ or ‘invisible braces’ given that they are virtually unnoticeable. The Invisalign system moves your teeth over time using a clear brace fabricated especially for your unique mouth. The end result is brilliantly straightened teeth and a perfectly natural-looking, stunning smile.

By wearing your Invisalign brace for 22 hours a day your teeth are gently adjusted. They are completely removable, allowing you greater ease with eating, drinking and tooth brushing and cleaning the Invisalign brace itself. Regular check-ups with your dentist will allow them to give you replacement Invisaligns when your teeth require them.

Without the metal brackets and wiring, Invisalign see-through braces are far more comfortable than their traditional counterparts. In traditional braces the process of tightening the elastic bands would often cause great discomfort to the wearer but Invisalign straightens teeth in a far more gentle fashion. Of course the fact that they are virtually invisible means that there is minimal disruption to one’s lifestyle as they can only be seen from very close-up.

Invisalign-certified dentists offer free consultations to see if this revolutionary technique is right for you. It can be used to correct most problems with crooked teeth, overbite, gaps between teeth and crowding so contact your Leeds dentist today to find out more.
