5 Brilliant Benefits to Invisible Braces

Tuesday, November 8th, 2016

InvisalignIn days gone by, people used to think of braces as cumbersome metal devices, which were painful and unsightly. Today, orthodontic treatment looks entirely different, and a growing number of people are taking advantage of incredible invisible braces. If you’re thinking of having braces, here are five amazing benefits you could enjoy:

  1. Invisibility: of course, the most important benefit of invisible braces is the fact that nobody can see them. Most of us are conscious about our appearance, and the idea of wearing braces doesn’t appeal to many. With invisible braces, you can get amazing results without any worry about what you look like.
  2. Confidence: confidence is very important. For many of us, the way we look can impact our confidence levels. Wearing braces can make people more self-conscious. Invisible braces enable you to go through treatment without feeling anxious about what others think or how you look now that you’ve started treatment.
  3. Simplicity: invisible braces enable you to get on with life as normal, even though you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment. Most invisible braces are removable, which gives you flexibility, and more control over your treatment.
  4. Positive impressions: many people have put off having braces in the past because of the stigma attached to wearing visible braces. With invisible braces, you don’t have to worry about people making judgments based on your braces. If you’ve got a high-powered job, it’s not going to affect your career prospects. If you’re trying to fit in at school, your braces aren’t going to make you the butt of jokes and jibes. Nobody will know that you’ve had braces until your smile looks perfect, and you’re ready to show it off to the world.
  5. Results: invisible braces don’t just boost your confidence during treatment. They also provide you with a stunning smile that will make you look and feel a million dollars. Most of us consider our smile our most important feature, so it’s worth investing in invisible braces.

About Invisalign

Invisalign is an aligner system that uses a sequence of custom-made plastic aligners to re-position and align the teeth. Invisalign aligners are made from clear plastic and slide onto your teeth. Once they are sat in place, it is virtually impossible for other people to detect them.

Invisalign works differently to traditional braces and uses multiple appliances, rather than a single orthodontic device. Each aligner is worn for 2 weeks and the sequence follows until treatment is complete.

As well as offering virtual invisibility, Invisalign also offers patients:

  • comfort: the aligners generate gentle forces and there are no metal parts
  • convenience: Invisalign aligners are removable, so they fit into your normal day to day life very easily. You won’t have to adapt the way you eat, the foods you buy or the way you clean your teeth
  • improved oral health: braces can be notoriously hard to clean, but with Invisalign, there is no added risk of decay as you remove your aligners to brush your teeth
  • confidence: many people worry about having braces because they think they look unattractive or affect the way other people view them. With Invisalign, you can go through the process without any worries at all about what you look like or how you come across to other people

If you think Invisalign sounds like the perfect match for you, why not call us today and book a consultation? Our friendly dentists will explain the ins and outs of orthodontic treatment, go through the pros and cons of Invisalign treatment and carry out some tests to check whether or not you are a good candidate for this system. If Invisalign is not a good match, we will be happy to explore other, more suitable, options.

How to Clean Your Braces During Treatment

Thursday, June 25th, 2015

3943593_blogWhen you have braces, you have to be particularly mindful of oral hygiene, as there is a greater risk of food debris getting trapped in the mouth and subsequently an elevated risk of decay. When you have braces fitted, your dentist will explain how to keep them clean and which foods to try and avoid to protect your braces and promote good oral health and show you some effective cleaning techniques.

Keeping braces clean

If you have fixed braces, it can be tricky to keep them clean, especially after eating. But once you get used to a cleaning regime, you will find it becomes second nature and you should have no problems at all. If you are struggling at any point, don’t hesitate to get in touch and our dentists will be happy to help.

We recommend brushing the teeth after meals, but it is best to wait around 40 minutes. You can use a normal toothbrush and there are also specially designed brushes you can use for braces. We also recommend rinsing with mouthwash to wash away bacteria and food particles.

Dental checks

In addition to a good oral hygiene routine, we also recommend regular dental checks throughout your treatment so we can see how you are getting on and give your teeth a good clean and polish. If you have any problems at all between scheduled checks, we are always at the end of the phone to arrange extra appointments.

Diet

Your diet is really important when it comes to oral health and this is especially pertinent if you have braces. There are some foods that increase the risk of decay and gum disease and there are also some foods that may cause problems for your brace, such as boiled sweets and other hard foods. Generally speaking, it’s best to try and stick to a healthy, balanced diet, avoid chewy and sticky foods and moderate sugar intake.

We Offer The Ultimate In Discreet Braces

Friday, February 6th, 2015

2445507_blogDiscretion is key for many of our orthodontic patients and we are delighted to offer virtually invisible solutions, such as Invisalign, for common issues, including crowding, spacing and cooked teeth. With Invisalign, we can produce incredible results with minimal impact on looks or your day to day life.

What exactly is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a popular modern orthodontic system, which is designed to offer a discreet, convenient and flexible alternative to fixed braces. With Invisalign, clients receive a set of custom-designed appliances, known as aligners; these aligners are shaped to allow room for movement and they generate forces, which gently guide the teeth into position.

Invisalign is a versatile treatment and it is suitable for many patients; it is an excellent choice for people who are conscious of their image and those who have to maintain a certain look for work purposes and it can also be really beneficial for people who are worried about what others will say or think about them wearing braces. Invisalign aligners are made from clear plastic and they slide onto the teeth; they are virtually undetectable when you speak and smile.

What happens when you have treatment?

After the consultation stage, you will receive your custom-made Invisalign aligners. The aligners are designed to be worn in a set order and each one should be worn for 2 weeks. Invisalign aligners afford your flexibility and simplicity, as they can be removed when you eat and brush your teeth; this means that you can continue to eat and clean your teeth in exactly the same way as you did before you started treatment.

Invisalign aligners should be worn for at least 22 hours per day to ensure good results. During the treatment process, your City Dental dentist will arrange frequent check-ups to monitor the progress of your treatment.

Invisible Braces for the Self-Conscious Teen

Monday, March 24th, 2014

2370471_sTeenagers are under a lot of pressure to look good these days and often the last thing they want is a set of braces. Braces have never been the coolest look but image-conscious teens will be thrilled to learn that there is now an invisible means of getting an amazing new smile. Invisalign is an incredibly popular clear brace system, which offers a specially designed treatment, Invisalign Teen, for younger patients.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an innovative removable brace system, which offers a discreet and convenient alternative to traditional metal fixed braces. Rather than wearing a fixed brace for months, patients wear a series of specially made removable aligners, which are made from clear plastic. Each aligner is different and all are worn for a fortnight.

Invisalign Teen is the same as Invisalign but it offers additional benefits designed especially for teenagers. There are spare aligners available and the aligners are marked with coloured indicators to remind patients when to swap their brace for the next in the series.

Invisalign is a great option for younger patients who are worried about the impact of wearing a brace on their looks and what other people may say about them having treatment. These aligners are virtually invisible, they are convenient and comfortable and they will produce an amazing smile at the end of it all. Call us today to find out more!

Hiding no more with Invisalign in Leeds

Friday, February 15th, 2013

If you have ever had the ordeal of ever having to wear, or watch someone you love wear traditional fixed braces in Leeds, it isn’t the most pleasant of sites. It stunts self expression and makes you introverted while wearing them. Plus they can be a nightmare to clean and expose you to the greater threat of bacteria attacking your teeth. Nice to know then that those days have been thoroughly disposed of, thanks to Invisalign. This aligner turns every thought you may have of teeth straightening on its head. For a start, once you have been fitted with the first of many aligners, you can take it out whenever you want, allowing you to clean your teeth normally and which instantly removes the threat of bacteria and plaque building up in your mouth. The treatment works fast and depending on the complexity of your teeth, you can be done in as little as a year. But it is what Invisalign is made from that gives it its greatest quality of all: the aligner is made from a clear plastic which means that when fitted, it’s almost invisible! Pricey yes, but priceless- absolutely!

Discretion with Correction with Invisible Braces in Leeds

Monday, June 25th, 2012

There is a pretty good chance that most of us in Leeds are going to have to go through the pain and heartache of having a brace fitted at some point in our lives, and that is two years of psychologically being the ugly duckling with the playground ridicule that comes with it, not to mention how uncomfortable it is to wear. It is then very fortunate that future generations will not have to go through this torment as the world of dentistry has got its act together and started to knock-out aligners that leave the wearer feeling like a swan and that are ‘invisible’ when fitted into the mouth. The materials used in aligner manufacturing are more sympathetic on the eye and more aware of their surroundings- they match the colour of the teeth, from the plates to the wires and when wearing a fixed brace, that is heaven sent. But that is nothing compared some of the clear aligners from America; they truly are ‘invisible’, being made from a clear plastic, but they can also be taken out at any time AND they work far quicker than most other options around. Other braces and aligners can work from 6 weeks to 6 months so here, their invisibility work with speed- they are done and gone before you know it, and anyone else realises it. Ask your dentist about all these fantastic devices and your suitability before opting for second best.

Invisible Braces?! In Leeds?!

Sunday, May 27th, 2012

If you know that at some point in your life you are going to have to have your teeth straightened, you will have probably run all of the scenarios that come with it through your head as well, and there is a good chance you have painted quite a grave picture- a mouthful of metal for years clogged up with rotting food because it’s hard to remove…..that’s not good. But take a step back and now paint the complete opposite of that picture and you will arrive at the wonderment that is whipping around Leeds right now- Invisalign. Oh yes, this will blow all of those pre-conceived ideas you ever had about tooth straightening. Firstly, once you have signed on the program, you will then be fitted with one of many aligners that you will change throughout the course to keep your teeth moving. Now the best bits; Invisalign is made from a transparent plastic and once it is fitted, only a hawk would be able to tell that you are wearing it- IT’S INVISIBLE! Now if that were not enough, the aligner is not fixed which means you can take it out at any time and as long as you wear it for around 22 hours a day, that gives you 2 hours freedom to eat, socialise, kiss- whatever. Now if you needed any more convincing, this aligner on average, works in a third of the time than conventional braces. Bet that’s blown away your pre-conceptions!
