How does CEREC work?

About veneers

Veneers are wafer-thin tooth-shaped shells and are usually made from porcelain. They are placed on top of your natural teeth and provide an aesthetically pleasing solution for many common imperfections such as discolouration, chipped or worn teeth and gaps between the smile. There are lots of different types of veneer available and you can design your new smile by selecting the shade and shape of your veneers.

Veneers are custom-made for the individual using a set of impressions made once the teeth have been prepared. The preparation stage creates space for the veneers and involves etching the tooth surfaces and applying agent to facilitate bonding. Once the impressions have been created, they are sent away and the veneers are made by highly skilled and experienced dental technicians. When they are ready, we will then place them on your teeth and fix them into position using dental adhesive.

Veneer treatment usually takes around two to three weeks and involves two appointments.

How long do veneers last?

Veneers should last for several years providing they are well looked-after. Like natural teeth, veneers can become damaged through injury or accident and it’s important to take good care of them. The exact life-span will also depend on the type of veneer, as materials vary slightly and some systems last longer than others. About veneer treatment

During the first session, we discuss the ins and outs of treatment, prepare your teeth and create the moulds for your veneers. Once the veneers have been made and returned to us, we will then fit them and secure them; you will then be free to go out and show the world your amazing new smile.

What are the alternatives to veneers?

There are various treatments, which may offer an alternative to veneers. For chips and gaps between the teeth, we can also recommend cosmetic bonding, a procedure, which involves shaping dental composite to repair worn and chipped teeth and to close gaps between the teeth. In cases where there are large gaps between the teeth, orthodontic treatment may be required.

Veering towards Porcelain Veneers in Central Leeds

1567900_blogThere are many things that can get out of hand in your mouth very quickly in central Leeds; your teeth for a start can grow a little crooked. But as you get older, you can get troubled by your teeth losing their colour and looking worn down; gaps can also appear- leaving your smile in a bit of a state. But don’t fear because all of these problems can be tucked away behind porcelain veneers and get you up and running at the most in a couple of weeks- in a day if you go down the CEREC road. You first have to have the porcelain from the front of your teeth removed in order to make way for the veneers- it isn’t painful, just a tad uncomfortable, but once this is done, then the dentist can take impressions of your teeth so that the veneers can be made. When they are good to go (namely once they have been made), they are just simply cemented onto the front of your teeth and you are done; the results are simply terrific and you will have a smile back to be proud of.

The art of perfection with Porcelain Veneers in the City of Leeds

There is no doubt that porcelain is a wonderful material: it’s so pure and perfect and seems to gives off an incredibly natural hue whenever light hits it. Now sit back on your chair, close your eyes and imagine your grubby old teeth looking like porcelain….lovely eh? Well, now open your eyes and have a look in the mirror and imagine how your discoloured, chipped and worn down teeth with their receding gums may look if they could look like porcelain. Well they can and if you get down to your dentists in the city of Leeds, they can hide away all those years of hurt by fitting you with some porcelain veneers. These wafer thin beauties can put a touch of class back in your smile, painlessly, in as little as a couple of weeks (in a couple of hours if your dentist has CEREC at their disposal!). Your teeth will first have to have the enamel removed so that a couple of moulds can be made up, from which the veneers are made. Whilst this is being done in some laboratory, you will be fitted with dummy veneers until your real ones are made. Then, you simply sit back, the dummies are removed, and your glorious new ones are then cemented into position: they are sealed with a heat light. If there is one problem with this treatment, it is stopping you from annoying other people with an excitement you can’t contain at having the most beautiful teeth in the world!
