The story of Angle Orthodontics in the fair City of Leeds

As more and more information is shared around the world concerning orthodontics, so then too does the subject matter become more splintered and research is conducted into minute areas of the mouth and how braces work within those areas. Though most braces and aligners claim to be bespoke to the wearer, they are manufactured on the basis that most people are basically the same and that they will fit around about 6 different arch sizes in the mouth that have been statistically charted after an intense amount of surveying. Yes the wiring and pads in braces can be tweaked to a certain client’s requirements, but the core of the brace/aligner remains constant based on the results of these surveys. In the city of Leeds for example, there are only a few variations in the size of arch of the mouth in the whole population against which a certain type of braces is designed to fit. The point of all this angle orthodontics though is to ascertain whether or not some braces can be ill fitting and if so, how it could affect the overall results once a treatment is over. If the plate of a brace doesn’t fit right, does that mean that then the treatment is working wrongly? Orthodontists will often take castings of your teeth, but rarely of the arch in your mouth. If you ever feel that once the fitting is in yet feels compromised, then you need to say so, otherwise, the final outcome could actually be compromising your bite as opposed to bettering it.
