We Can Save You From The Clutches Of Dental Phobia

2986104_blogMany patients feel anxious when they go to the dentist, especially if they are undergoing a procedure, rather than having a simple check-up, but we are here to ease your fears and help you to feel completely relaxed. We understand that getting into the dental chair can be a major problem for some clients and we do everything we can to make your time with us completely stress-free.

Dental phobia is different to anxiety; a phobia is an intense fear and in the case of dental phobia, it can be so serious that patients avoid having treatment or seeing a dentist for many years. We have experience in treating patients who have dental phobia and we will do everything we can to try and help to make you feel calm and ease your fears. We promote regular check-ups because they are important for general and oral health and we want you to feel confident and calm enough to be able to visit a dentist on a regular basis.

Sedation

Sedation is a technique, which is used frequently in medicine and dentistry to help patients relax and prevent them from feeling pain when they have treatment or undergo a procedure. It involves the use of sedative medications, which bring the body into a state of relaxation. Sedation is not the same as general anaesthetic because patients do not lose consciousness during the procedure; this means that you can communicate with your dentist if you want to.

When you are sedated, it makes you feel a bit drowsy and you won’t feel any pain. Most people don’t have much recollection of what happened when they come around later. It can take a little time for the effects of the sedative to wear off totally, so we recommend asking somebody to take you home and stay with you for a while; you won’t be able to drive for 24 hours.
