The Many Benefits Of Wearing The Inman Aligner In Leeds City Centre

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

283481_blogIf you’re searching for an orthodontic treatment, which offers everything from speed to discreet aesthetics, allow us to introduce you to the Inman Aligner. This innovative treatment offers a modern take on traditional fixed braces for patients who require minor correction.

What exactly is the Inman Aligner?

The Inman Aligner is a fast-acting removable brace, which is designed to target minor issues with the front teeth, such as mild crowding or spacing. This innovative device uses forces generated by a coiled spring at the back of the teeth and a metal bar, which sits on the front of the teeth, to push and pull the teeth, moving them into the correct position and producing a beautiful, perfectly aligned smile. The aligner slides over the teeth in a similar way to a mouth guard.

Is the Inman Aligner visible when you smile?

The Inman Aligner is not invisible like other aligner systems; however, it is very discreet and the only part that can be seen is a very fine metal bar. Treatment times are also much shorter than most other aligner systems.

How long will I need to wear the Inman Aligner?

The Inman Aligner is one of the fastest treatments on the market and most cases are complete within just 4 months; you will start to notice changes after just a few weeks.

Who is the best candidate for the Inman Aligner?

The Inman Aligner is not a universal treatment and it is suited to patients who only need a small amount of movement and correction for minor issues. This treatment also focuses on the front teeth.

In addition to patients who are having treatment for minor problems for the first time, the Inman Aligner can also be very beneficial for patients who have suffered relapse (when the teeth begin to move out of position) following treatment in the past.

Will I need to wear a retainer?

We strongly recommend wearing a retainer after orthodontic treatment; retainers are designed to hold the teeth in position and prevent them from slipping or sliding out of position.

Innovative Orthodontics For Super Fast Straightening

Saturday, December 6th, 2014

2904387_blogIf lengthy treatments have ever put you off correcting your teeth then we might just have the perfect solution for you. Fastbraces, a fixed brace treatment, can correct your teeth in just half the amount of time of regular braces and can be used to treat a wide range of problems. Just a few issues that can be fixed with Fastbraces include overcrowding, misaligned teeth, underbite, overbite and spaces between the teeth. Here at City Dental Leeds we are proud to offer our clients this fast, effective treatment and we are sure you will be delighted with your results.

More about the Fastbraces treatment

Researchers have been developing Fastbraces for over 20 years so that they can quickly, effectively and painlessly straighten your teeth in around 50 percent of the time of traditional braces. The reason this treatment is so rapid is because the root and crown of the tooth are moved together at the same time, whereas regular braces work to move each section individually. The braces consist of triangular-shaped brackets and a singular wire, making them both discreet and comfortable.

How does the treatment work?

On the first visit, your dentist will examine your needs just to make sure that you are a suitable candidate for the Fastbraces treatment. During this consultation you should feel free to ask any questions that may arise, including issues regarding costs or any queries you may have about the procedure.

Once you decide that the treatment is right for you, an impression will be made of your teeth which will then be used to design your new braces. As soon as we receive your custom-made braces we can fit them onto you and start the treatment. Following this, we will organise regular check-ups to ensure that you are satisfied with your braces and to make sure your progress is on track.

Please contact City Dental Leeds today to learn more about Fastbraces and how they can benefit you!

Who Would Benefit From Sedation Dentistry?

Sunday, November 30th, 2014

352388_blogA trip to the dentist can make anyone feel nervous and we understand that many of our patients feel anxious when they are preparing to undergo dental treatment. We offer sedation as a means of making treatment less stressful for patients and enabling them to go through treatment without feeling any pain.

What is sedation?

Sedation is a technique, which we use to make patients feel completely relaxed when they have treatment. Sedation is not the same as general anaesthetic and it doesn’t make lose consciousness; instead, it induces a profound state of relaxation. Once sedative medication takes affect, you won’t feel any pain, but you will be aware of your surroundings still; you can talk to your dentist if you want to and you’ll be able to hear them.

After sedation, it’s likely that you’ll feel a little sleepy and drowsy and it will take a few hours for the effects of the sedative to wear off fully. You won’t need to stay after treatment and we recommend asking a friend or family member to take you home and stay with you. Most people don’t remember much about the procedure when they have been sedated.

Who can benefit from sedation?

Sedation is highly beneficial for nervous patients because it helps them to feel calmer before and during treatment. It is also advantageous for patients who are having a long or complex procedure and those who struggle with fears, such as a fear of the dental drill or needles.

We also find that many patients who struggle with a sensitive gag reflex find sedation beneficial.

If you’re a nervous patient and you are worried about having dental treatment, we can promise you that you’re in the best hands at City Dental Leeds. Our friendly team is here to help and we use all the latest techniques to ensure that you feel completely comfortable. Call us today to find out how we could help you.

We Offer A Range Of Treatments For Damaged Or Broken Teeth

Sunday, November 23rd, 2014

585986_blogDental injuries, accidents and daily wear and tear can all take their toll on your teeth, but if you need restorative treatment or a replacement for a missing tooth, you’ve come to the right place. We cat patch up worn, chipped or broken teeth or find the perfect tooth replacement treatment for a missing tooth in no time.

Treatments for damaged and broken teeth

We have an array of restorative treatments available to cater for all your dental needs. Whether you’ve chipped a tooth on a humbug, you’ve broken your tooth playing sport or you’ve lost a tooth in an accident, we have the best solutions out there and we will have you smiling with confidence before you know it.

For chipped teeth, there are various options. Veneers are a popular choice for anyone who is looking for a glamorous smile, while composite bonding is a great treatment for those who are looking for a simple, quick and affordable fix. This treatment involves using dental composite, the material used for white fillings, to fill in chips, add more height to worn surfaces and make weakened teeth stronger. The procedure takes an hour, there’s no pain involved and you can enjoy the benefits immediately. If your tooth is weak as a result of a cavity, we can fill the tooth to make it stronger; treatment takes less than an hour and we use local anaesthetic to prevent discomfort.

If your tooth is broken and the damage is too extensive for a filling or bonding, we may recommend an inlay or onlay or a crown. Inlays and onlays are usually referred to as the middle ground between fillings and crowns and they are colour matched for a flawless finish. Crowns are used very commonly for broken teeth and they can also be used to strengthen infected and decayed teeth. Crowns are positioned over the top of the tooth to make it stronger; they are made from various materials, including ceramics, such as porcelain, so they can blend in with the natural teeth.

Treatments for missing teeth

We also offer dentures, dental bridges and dental implants for patients with missing teeth. Call us today if you’re in need of restorative work and we can help you decide which is the best solution for you.

We Also Offer Innovative CT Scans

Wednesday, November 19th, 2014

3488681_blogAt City Dental Leeds, we pride ourselves in offering the best treatments and our clinic is packed with the latest technology and equipment. We are proud to have a CT scanner on-site and we accept referrals from other clinics for CT scans, as well as providing services for our clients.

CT scans have a range of uses within modern dentistry; we use them primarily during implant treatment.

What are CT scans used for?

CT scans have a whole range of uses within medicine and dentistry. We use CT scans for implant treatment, as the images enable us to locate the best site for the dental implant. CT scans are much more detailed than traditional X-rays and this means that we can find the optimum location for the implant at the planning stage; we can also use the scan images to guide us during the procedure to fit the implants. We also use scans during consultations to ascertain whether or not patients are suitable candidates for implant treatment; we can use the images to check bone density and look at 3D models of the jaws.

What happens when you have a CT scan?

Having a CT scan is not painful and there’s no need to feel worried or apprehensive. Before you have your scan, you’ll be asked to take out any jewellery, such as earrings and necklaces and you will be told all about the scan, what’s going to happen and how long it will take. We will provide you with a mouthpiece, which will help you to keep your mouth open and the scanner will then take images of your mouth; you don’t have to anything apart from trying to stay as still as possible. The scan takes a maximum of 15 minutes and you will be free to head home straight afterwards.

Tuesday, November 18th, 2014

3534882_blogFor many, going to the dentist is a scary experience, but at City Dental Leeds, we are determined to help you conquer you fears and ensure that you feel comfortable every time you visit us.

Many of our patients feel anxious when their appointment approaches and for some, fear is so profound that they avoid seeing a dentist for long periods of time. We offer sedation for nervous patients and we also adopt a friendly, compassionate approach; our team is highly trained and we have years of experience in treating anxious patients. We promise to do everything we can to ensure that you feel comfortable and we hope to help you overcome your dental fears.

What is sedation?

Sedation is a technique, which is used frequently in medicine and dentistry to help patients to feel comfortable when they are undergoing a procedure. Sedation involves using sedatives to induce a state of relaxation on the body and mind; it prevents you from feeling pain and also reduces anxiety.

When you are sedated, you don’t lose consciousness but you will feel a little drowsy; you’ll be able to hear what’s going on and you can talk to your dentist throughout the procedure if you would like to. Once your dentist has finished your treatment, they will give you medication to wake you up and the effects of the sedative will start to subside.

You may feel a little dazed and sleepy for a while after sedation, but you will be able to go home; we ask patients to ensure that they have somebody with them to accompany them home and sit with them until the effects have worn off completely. It’s important not to exercise, drink alcohol or drive for 24 hours after treatment.

The Inman Aligner Is A Popular Alternative To Invisible Braces

Thursday, November 13th, 2014

3884462_blogInvisible braces are hugely popular, but they are not always the best option. If you have minor issues and you’re looking for a rapid solution, which guarantees results, why not consider the Inman Aligner? This amazing treatment offers discretion, as well as speed and it is specifically designed for patients who only require minor correction.

What exactly is the Inman Aligner?

The Inman Aligner is a removable orthodontic device, which sits over the top of the teeth. It looks similar to invisible aligners, but it is designed for patients who have minor issues with the front teeth and it works much faster. Although the aligner is not invisible, it is extremely discreet and all that can be seen when you smile is a very fine metal bar, which sits on the front of the teeth.

The Inman Aligner works by generating forces, which work to move the teeth; these forces, which are produced by a coiled spring and a metal bar, squeeze the teeth, causing them to move. The technology behind this treatment is very advanced and it enables patients to enjoy results very quickly with minimal pain. The average treatment time is just 16 weeks, so you’ll be coming to see us to get your braces off and check out your new smile in no time.

Is the Inman Aligner a better choice for me than invisible braces?

Invisible aligners are an excellent choice for many patients, but in cases where only a small amount of movement is required and the issues are restricted to the front teeth, the Inman Aligner may be a better option.

If you’re not sure which orthodontic treatment to go for, your City Dental dentist is there to help! Once they have assessed your bite and had a close look at your teeth, they can discuss the different treatments with you, answer your questions and explain how the different appliances work to help you choose.
